IN THE DIRT World Premiere - Crested Butte Film Festival

ABOUT THE FILM

"IN THE DIRT" is a documentary film about a group of passionate Native American cyclists who attempt to bring the sport of mountain biking to the Navajo Nation, where no bike shops exist.

In 2018, retired pro cyclist Scott Nydam and his family moved to Gallup, New Mexico, to pursue a healthcare job for his wife. Soon after their arrival, Scott began meeting passionate mountain bikers across the 28,000-mile expanse of the Navajo Nation who loved the bike and wanted to bring the sport to their communities. The only problem is no bike shops existed. Through a grassroots native-led effort, this group of dedicated cyclists and their families have overcome countless odds to build a cycling culture that today has become the fastest-growing recreational sport on the Navajo Nation.

NMICL INAUGURAL RACE MANZANO MOUNTAIN MADNESS

The NMICL 2022 State Championship race is going to be at Oak Flats Picnic Ground outside of Tijeras, NM. Located in the picturesque Manzanita Mountains, the buff mountain single track is punctuated with rocky technical sections made up of chunky limestone and sandstone outcroppings. The course with roughly 4 miles and 400ft of elevation, is well shaded by the abundant Ponderosa Pines, with Pinon, juniper and shrub oaks providing additional floral scenery. While the single track is tight in some areas it is wide enough for passing in other areas and portions of the race course follow old two-track trails where passing is encouraged. The start and finish of the race will be clustered near the team pit zones for optimal encouragement and cheering.

Gallup McKinley Junior Kidz❗️Join us and #GallupTrails tomorrow up in the McGaffey/Zuni Mountains forest for the Gallup Trails (dinner) Party at the McKinley Wildlife Ctr. precluded by some fun, FREE double-dip XCC (short track) & XCO (longer distance) flowly single track in immaculate, New Mexico October weather

The inaugural 2022 Silver Stallion Jr. Stampede | XCC TT & XCO is an ages 18 and under junior Short Track XCC and Cross Country XCO mountain bike event taking place in the Zuni Mountains in McGaffey, New Mexico.

This is a FREE and family-friendly event for first-time racers and their families that providing opportunity for those with new-found interest in pursuing adventure on two wheels. This event will be a fun as well as challenging for all those participating.

Taking place with Saturday’s Zuni 50/100 (New Mexico Endurance Series) hosted by Gallup Trails, on Saturday afternoon the Jr. Stampede will feature a drop-in Short Track ITT “Individual Time Trial” providing staging (call-up) placement for the start of Sunday morning’s longer-distance XCO races.

The XCO distance categories are designed to replicate the roughly 6-12-18 mile 6th - 12th grade New Mexico NICA League categories, also including an Under-10 Kids Race.

This event provides all-aged athletes the opportunity to test-out shorter-distance racing to their choosing whereas there are distance limitations applied to younger age groups.

For years Matchstick has brought the highest level ski movies to the world – they now bring the same stoke and delivery on mountain biking!

This is a FREE event!

This new film from Matchstick Productions explores the various disciplines of mountain biking in the birthplace of the sport, Crested Butte, CO. Ranging from Enduro to Cross Country to Freeride, the film makers at Matchstick leave no stone un-turned. This is a bike movie for all riders and an ode to the deep rooted culture of the sport.
